So i went for cricket last Sunday, and me being me i have a bit of opinions.
It was quite an event, contrary to the most advised of opinions, my country minnows in the world or Cricket conspired to produce an epic performance beating the Australians in a modern day re-enactment of David vs Goliath albeit on the cricket field. To be honest, my advice to anyone interested in trying out the game is just make sure you are on the grass and not alone-i doubt you will regret it.
A bit later on, I found myself in a pub, near the VIP end-i don’t drink myself but I am not ashamed to be with either friends or family who do in such an environment(i do hate the smell of cigarette smoke though, rather any kind of smoke-it’s why i rarely do fire braais)-observing both the game and the people around me.
It’s never a conventional environment I can guarantee you that, but over the years the Lord has been working in me concerning judgment, concerning having grace for everyone I see and believing for the salvation of everybody.
I couldn’t help but smile a lot of the time, amidst all the drinking and smoking going on and think that God loves every man and woman in here, he wants to heal all the pain and disease and for everyone here, he actually wants what is best for them; not because anyone deserves it but because on q rugged cross, Jesus took all of the punishment and judgment.
I was reminded of part of my vision, to empty brothels and beerhalls and all those places where people look for a good time that really is only fleeting highs and I became acutely aware of one thing and that is more than arguing and debating, the church needs to be demonstrative of the authentic power of God.
If God really is joy, and if in his presence there is fullness of joy then church needs to be a robust happy place which the world desires to emulate and not a dead activity we do to avoid thunderbolts from heaven. If God forgives, then so should we, especially to the world for the sinner is only being themself when they seen, we need not condemn them for it…and so on.
People, we need to be real and be able to bring God’s solutions to the world and its problems: this business of being condescending and self righteous sucks and won’t benefit anyone.
Be blessed, I am signing out for now.
