Strongholds (6) The will of God

Hi. So today I want to talk about the last stronghold that I intended to talk about on this series and yes it is about the will of God. More specifically, the incorrect perception of it that so defines life we have robbed ourselves of enjoying the benefits that come from knowing God.

Whenever anything happens, good or bad; the person who marries his lifelong love who so happens to be a (wo)man of virtue, or the tragic accident that claims the lives of innocent school children Cosme where along the narrative, you will hear someone say “It was the will of God, there is nothing we can do about it.” The person who is reduced to bare bones by cancer, ravaged by the illness in a manner that evokes sympathy and pity from you-the answer is the same; the will of God. The failed exam, that relationship that has brought so much hurt to you and disillusionment—someone says God wanted you to learn something from it and it was His will. And we just don’t k ow what that is.

Straight up, that is just rubbish. Unfounded thoughts that come from trying to sound religious but the honest truth is they have nothing to do with the heart of God and his revealed nature in the Bible. You see, the very notion that everything that happens is the will of God  is a great lie designed to cloud our eyes from seeing the goodness of God, the serious nature of the consequences of sin and the very depth of hatred the devil has for humanity. You think all weather tsunamis and earthquakes are God’s doing? May I remind you that Jesus “rebuked” a storm. He stopped it dead, commanding it in the manner that something you would someone who is doing wrong. Now if God had been behind the storm, Jesus would have in essence been rebuking the Father but that cannot be for Jesus in his own words only did what He saw His Father do. You think greater works are limited to just healings??? Think again.

We have God who has His will, you have the devil who has his and man who has the right to choose. God does not infringe on the free will of man nor does He stop what the devil wants to do simply because its the devil. We have the right to choose how we want out lives to be, the right to determine the outcome we intend and He intends to see bit God will not force it on us. The other thing is creation groans–it was subjected to futility by sin as the Bible says and it also waits to be set free into liberty. So the very notion that everything that happens is God’s will is wrong. Another clearer pointer, is in Ezekiel, God asks and says “Do you think I like to see wicked people perish? No I would rather have them repent and come to life.” And I will ask you: did wicked people perish then? Do they perish now? Is it the will of God? Yes, yes and no.  Not everything that happens is the will of God and that is a lie that must be thrown back to hell from whence it came.

And now onto whether or not we can know the will of God and the very famous scripture “His thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His ways are higher than outs.” To many this will sound correct and humble even but I must break down that false facade. Quoting this scripture for you as a born again believer is taking this out of context and making little of what Christ has done. You see, this here I believe in Isaiah 55 was written for a rebellious and hard hearted Israel that refused to walk in kindness and mercy. It was written to a nation that had turned away and was not repenting. Are you that person? Are you the rebel who refuses and rebels against God? Because if you are, then the ways of God which by the way he does not hide but according to at least 5 identical verses in the Psalms, are slow to anger, aboundi g in mercy. Full of compassion and quick to forgive and are ways which to Moses He made known (Psalms 103).

You think God works in mysterious ways? Well, to people who do not know Him yes, definitely. But to you the believer, believing this is believing a lie. According to the Bible, we have the mind of Christ, we have the Spirit who knows the deep things of God and who reveals them to us, we are the church through whom God wants to reveal wisdom which throughout the ages He has hidden, we are no longer servants who do not know what the master is doing but he calls us brethren and so much more. More so, Hebrews 1 declares Jesus as the perfect representation of God—the one  person we can look to and remove all doubt and know exactly what God is like and what He would act like in any situation..

You see, we have been lied to. Our God is good. Only good gifts come from above and our God is a perfect Father. You want to know what God wants for you? Look at a good father in society and consider what He does for his children. Our Father is so much more towards you and towards the sinner whom he wants to  come into the family.

Selah. Be blessed…
