Grace (through faith)

Hi guys. Hope you are all all good. So today I just want to ramble a bit about grace, and a bit of what has been my journey with it over the past few years.

I will be the first to admit I have not always been a person who understood what either was and at some point in my mind i have maybe flirted with the extremes of either-I remember a time when I would write down as lists what I wanted God to do for me; laundry lists really of some of my favourite cars, foods and clothes at some point or the other and needless to say for some of this I have been a laughing stock to many a person for many a reason. However, I think my experience has in a way led me in a deeper quest reaaly to understand what it is that works. I am a firm believer that Christianity is designed to work and that the promises of God must become a reality because God is not merely interested in giving us a cool book to read but as the Bible says-The Word of God is living and active.

Having dedicated this personally as a year in which I ought to learn and start to walk in the fullness of grace; I have to first express my gratitude that though I haven’t always been cognisant of it, God has kept his end of the bargain and quite recently I came across a teaching by a man or men who quickly are becoming heroes to me in the way they live and the simple clarity of truth they stand for; A.W Tozer and Andrew Wormack. And it is revelation I have received by virtue of their teaching that I intend to be talking about; something that can simply be expressed as grace works by faith, and its not one or the other.

Another way of putting it is the part of God is grace; our part is faith and the two mixed produces the results of God in finances, health, family, business and anything else we desire to see the hand of God in. If you consider that the Bible says “faith is the gift of God” you realise just how easy our part is. Faith is not something mystical that needs a million confessions for it to work, though if it helps you by all means do it; rather it is the result of a heart posture that trusts God completely. Yes, quite simply it does not boil down to anything that is complicated or hard to understand for that is the way of true Christianity as Jesus put it “to confound the wise of this world.” Will faith result in actions; yes definitely but it is not the actions that are faith. An allegory we will understand is any guy can open doors for a woman and pull out chairs; but that does not mean the position of the guy’s heart is one of love and value for the woman; for all we know it could be just a guy looking for a “conquest.”

In the same way, actions are not faith but where you choose to put your heart and trust, that is and that will produce results. Because once in your heart you determine God is trustworthy, and you will trust him always to lead you “in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake”And this I believe is what grace through faith as the word teaches is; doing our part of trusting God’s love for us; to believe the sacrifice of Jesus is for us and that He makes us righteous and accepted in the beloved.

And on a personal note having come to realise and believe this, I believe my life will from now on be a tale of the continued goodness of God in all aspects; my relationships, finances, family, business and anything I can imagine and I believe so can yours.

Selah
